Student Innovation Projects (SIPs) are the equivalent of a Master Theisis, SIP allows us as studuents to come up with a fun and innovative project to present to our Subject Matter Experts (SME) for apporval. After our SIP’s have been approved, we’re able to truly start finilzing it to be presented at the SIP showcase.
The purpose of Get to Know You (GTKY) videos is to help employees connect with coworkers they may not usually interact with. These videos provide insight into an individual, allowing others to learn something about them that could spark a connection. Whether they end up working together in the future or meeting at an in-person event.
What inspired your project?
This was inspired by the GTKY videos I’ve been working on during my internship. It made me want to expand on it and bring it to other companies since it can really help employees connect, especially for those who work from home and don’t get as many chances to interact with coworkers.
What problem does your project solve?
GTKY aims to create a more engaging work environment through fun videos which helps emypoyees learn about eachother.
Can GTKY be applied to other mediums?
Yes! GTKY can be applied in many different formats such as clubs, small businesses, events, and more.

Getting to know your team should be more than just reading each other’s names on a screen. GTKY makes introductions fun, personal, and actually memorable! Helping teams connect in a way that feels more natural and not forced. Whether you’re onboarding new hires, building team culture, or just strengthening connections, GTKY gives everyone a chance to share who they are beyond their job title.
What software/tools do you use?
I use Premiere Pro for editing, and for recording, it can vary. Participants can either send in their responses or schedule a personal interview with me via Teams, Webex, or Zoom.
How did your project change from start to finish?
When I start editing the GTKY, I review the footage before selecting the best answers to include in the video. Then, I find music and fun clips to enhance the video, along with cleaning up the audio.
Where are the GTKY videos shared?
Once the project is complete, clients will receive the file to post on their preferred platform, such as Slack, Teams, or Element.
